This in-depth review of Embrace of the Vampire (1995) explores its story, characters, and scares in detail, offering insights for every horror fan.
Embrace of the Vampire (1995) is a vampire thriller horror movie that was filmed in Faribault, Minnesota, USA. This was the first movie that director Anne Goursaud (The Truth and Nothing But the Truth (2006), Poison Ivy II (1996), Another Nine & A Half Weeks (1997)) directed beside directing one episode, Midnight Bells of TV series Red Shoe Diaries. She is great as an editor and flops as a director. The movie contains strong s**uality, nudity, violence and bad language and vampires.
Embrace of the Vampire is about goody college girl virgin Charlotte Wells (Alyssa Milano - Fear (1996), Who’s the Boss? TV Series (1984), Charmed TV Series (1998)) who just came out of a convent. She is constantly having dreams about having intercourse/sexual relations with her ideal lover who is a dark, tall and handsome vampire. The only problem is that it is a dream and her boyfriend Chris (Harold Pruett - Sybil (1976), Summer Camp Nightmare (1987), Precious Find (1996)) is who is not a dream, is handsome but cannot compare to her dream lover. Chris has patience and understands that his girlfriends plans on staying a virgin. The vampire who is dy**g needs Charlotte to love him willinging so that he can drink some of her blood to survive. The vampire makes Charlotte think that her boyfriend Chris is not faithful to her in an effort to gain her love for him. After some time, she had a decision to make, what she wants to do with her life. Charlotte has to choose if she wants to stay on the light side and stay with her reality boyfriend or if she wants to go to the dark side and join her ideal dream lover who is a vampire. By the way, Charlotte may be a reincarnation of her ideal lover’ (vampire) wife.
The movie appeared to aim at Alyssa Milano being naked (more likely her being in playboy comes to mind) and not much thought was put into the screenplay. There was a lot of le***an/ girl on girl action going on. The movie lacked a good storyline and had way too many plot holes. I do not recommend this movie to horror fans and vampire lovers. I love movies with vampires, but I will never see this one again.
