Final Destination (2000) is a thriller horror movie that made me think about the inevitable. It is the first installment of its franchise, and I love all of it. It is truly a movie that I would like to see in 3D because Final Destination 2 in 3D was an awesome treat. Director James Wong (The X-Files (1993), The One (2001), Final Destination 3 (2006)) is an amazing director, and I love all seven movies and TV episode that he directed. I would love for him to direct more movies because he has a knack for it. The movie contains brief nudity where a female breast is shown in a magazine and unexpected crucial deaths. Life is unpredictable in most cases. It was one of the best teen movies I have ever seen and still is 14 years later one of the best franchises ever.
The movie starts off showing us a group of friends on a plane that are boarding passengers. The friends are going on a school trip to Paris, France. Alex Browning (Devon Sawa - Idle Hands (1999), Slackers (2002)) was on a plane with his friends when he had a premonition of himself with others on the plane dieing after the plane explodes. He told his friends of his premonition and told them that everyone is going to die, and they have to get off the aircraft now. Alex and a few people left the plane and survived while the other passengers stayed on the plane and died when the plane exploded not too far from the airport. FBI agents suspect Alex of having something to do with the plane exploding.
Those who survived are trying to stay alive as they learn that Death is following them because they cheated Death. After the Memorial service for all those died in the plane crash, Tod Waggner (Chad Donella - Shattered Glass (2003), Saw 3D: The Final Chapter (2010), The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)) was strangled in the shower, and it was seen as a suicide by the public and authorities. Alex does not believe that Tod killed himself, and he sneaked into the funeral home with Clear Rivers (Ali Larter - Resident Evil: Extinction (2007), Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010), Final Destination 2 (2003)) to take a look at Tod’s body. They met mortician William Bludworth (Tony Todd) who informed them that Alex has damaged Deaths plan and now Death is out to take the lives of all that dodged it. Alex believes that they can cheat death again and sets out on a path to warn all those that survived the plane crash.
Final destination and all in its franchise are movies that I will recommend for a nice entertaining watch. It is filled with action and we never know how someone is going to die or if he/she will die when we expect them to. I felt as though I was there in the movie with the character experiencing their joy and pain. Director James Wong has an amazing talent and is keeping it from us by not directing more movies.
