The Horror of Dracula stars Peter Cushing as the legendary Doctor Van Helsing and Christopher Lee as the vampire Dracula / Count Dracula. Jonathan Harker accepts a job by Count Dracula at his castle, but Dracula‘s motive is ill-willed. Jonathan Harker gets an opportunity to attack Dracula. Dracula takes his vengeance by traveling to a nearby town where he proceeds to terrorize Harker’s finance and her family. Doctor Van Helsing enters the story to protect the family from this bloodthirsty vampire.
Christopher Lee‘s performance is excellent but lacked the chills of Bela Lugosi. Peter Cushing fits his role entirely and is believable. The Horror of Dracula is not story driven deep nor is it visually impactful. The Horror of Dracula is shot in color and is appropriate for viewers who will appreciate the budget and timeframe of this now classic vampire film. Watching Christopher Lee vs. Peter Cushing onscreen is very entertaining and recommended.
