#Horror (2015) is an American drama mystery-horror film that was shot within eighteen days in upstate New York and Connecticut in 2015 during the winter. The crew had a difficult time shooting because they encountered harsh weather. Director Tara Subkoff (As Good as It Gets (1997), The Cell (2000), All Over Me (1997), Teenage Caveman (2002)) spent weeks preparing her young cast by offering them acting workshops and improvisation exercises. She spent about seven months with editors Janice Hampton and Catrin Hedstrom editing the film. The film revolves around a few rich junior high/middle school girls that stumble upon a night of terror as their social network game did not go the way they planned. The movie contains violence, s**ual content, affair, middle school girls, junior high school girls, murders, blood, gore, suspense, thrills, and a few frightening scenes.
#Horror starts with an explicit scene of Harry Cox (Balthazar Getty - Brothers & Sisters (2006), Lord of the Flies (1990), Feast (2005), The Judge (2014)) being s**ually intimate with Lisa (Lydia Hearst) in a car parked on a secluded road. Harry’s wife Alex (Chloe Sevigny) called him shortly after Lisa leaves his car. The murder scene did not take long because as soon as he ended the call with his wife, we see his throat being slashed. Lisa did not survive because an unseen person murdered her as well. The film skips to showing us Sam (Sadie Seelert) who is 12 years old. Sofia is Sam’s classmate and invited Sam for a sleepover at her secluded mansion in Connecticut. Sam was the only one that is not rich at the sleepover and feels embarrassed over the matter. Sofia also invited a few other girls including Cat (Haley Murphy - Silent House (2011), My Best Day (2012), Unforgettable (2011)) who suffers from psychological problems. Sofia’s mother Alex (Chloe Sevigny - American Psycho (2000), Boys Don’t Cry (1999), Zodiac (2007), Big Love (2006)) shows the girls her closet and jewelry for them to enjoy playing dress up with. The girls stayed at the house while Alex leaves on an errand, promising the girls to bring back pizza. Cat sees a pistol and taunts Francesca (Mina Sundwall - Objects in Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear (2010), Freeheld (2015), First Prize (2014)) with it.
After a few events, the girls decide to lock away their phone, and Sofia (Bridget McGarry - Louder Than Bombs (2015), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), Alien Dawn (2013)) throws the key to the safe in the pool. We immediately know disaster will soon pursue. Sam decides to help look for Cat but instead finds her father’s car with blood everywhere, but the girls do not believe her and tell her to leave. The movie progresses to be a nonstop action film where little girls misbehave in outrageous ways that are not seen as innocent by most individuals.
