Exploring House of the Dead 2 (2005) through our review, we cover its story, scares, and how it fits into the broader horror genre landscape.

House of the Dead 2 (2005) is an American science fiction thriller horror movie that was as dreadful to watch as its sequel to Brightlight PicturesHouse of the Dead (2003). Director Michael Hurst (Room 6 (2006), Ninja (2009), New Blood (2000), Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud (2007)) failed at executing this movie. The movie contains s**ual content, brief nudity, bad language, violence, minor blood, and zombies.

House of the Dead 2 takes place not too long after House of the Dead (2003). The movie starts by showing us a Hyper sapiens’ specimen that was infected from the first film and survived which was captured by a professor from Cuesta Verde University. The professor wants to find out why she is immortal and performs many experiments on her rotted body. The professor had lost his noggins when he believed that he perfected a serum that would bring back the dead to live with an immortal life. He was so wrong and probably regretted killing one of his students to try his experiment on. His student came back to life, but she infects the professor and leaves the building. Guess what - the university now has students who are zombies

Ellis (Ed Quinn - Eureka (2006), The Caller (2011), Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004)) is an agent that is on a mission to find agent Alexandra Morgan. He found Agent Alexandra (Emmanuelle Vaugier - Saw II (2005), 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), Secondhand Lions (2003), Far Cry (2008)) in a restaurant killing several infected people. Ellis and Alexandra are given a new mission at their base, and that is to find the original infected specimen and obtain a blood sample. There is one catch to their mission, the campus that the original specimen is at will be receiving a missile at midnight and that missile will blow up the campus regardless if Ellis and Alexandra are in it. Alexandra, Ellis, and a few soldiers, battle their way through the infected/zombies by executing them.

The movie was a waste of time, and I do not recommend this movie to other fellow horror fans. The graphics were terrible, acting was bad, the dialogue was bad, unrealistic scenes and stupid moves by trained black ops agents that are supposed to be used to dealing with the abnormal environment. Most of the movie did not make sense, and you are left questioning yourself as to why did that character do that when they are supposed to be the best at what they do.
