Our honest review of Knock Knock (2015) breaks down its scares, pacing, and whether this horror movie truly stands the test of time.

Knock Knock (2015) is a Chilean-American mystery thriller horror movie with a $3 million budget that exceeded my expectations. Director and co-writer Eli Roth (Grindhouse (2007), Cabin Fever (2002), Hostel (2005), Hostel: Part II (2007)) did an excellent job with his sense of humor displayed all over the film. Eli Roth could have done better, but the movie was more entertaining than I expected. The film contains s**ual content with nudity/language, violence, tension, suspense, a twist, a dark sense of humor, and an excellent mystery.

Evan Webber (Keanu Reeves - The Matrix (1999), Speed (1994), The Devil’s Advocate (1997), John Wick (2014)) is a happy husband and wonderful father. Evan injured his shoulder and cannot go on the planned family beach trip with his family. Evan decided to stay home on father’s day weekend and work on an architectural project for work. Genesis (Lorenza Izzo - The Green Inferno (2013), Aftershock (2012), The Stranger (2014)), and Bel (Ana de Armas) were lost and knocked on Evan’s door for help. Evan soon realizes that his infidelity is about to cost him. Bel (Ana de Armas - The Boarding School (2007), Sex, Party and Lies (2009), Blind Alley (2011)) and Genesis made themselves at home and did not want to leave. Evan is scared that he might and most likely will lose his family and everything. The females abused Evan terribly, and the torture appears to be excruciating. The movie portrays Evan as a guy who made a wrong decision, and the girls make him pay a torturous price.

Almost all of the actors gave solid performances except for Ana de Armas, whose acting was not convincing. Most of the movie was at an incredible pace except for a few minor parts that appeared to be dragged on. I was expecting full-on gore for this film, but I was shocked to see no gore but instead a twisted story with lots of tension. Knock Knock was a great home invasion movie and was neither a disappointment nor a highly entertaining experience. Horror fans should watch this movie because it was amusing to see the tortuous things they did to Evan. I felt so awful for his wife and kids because they are the real victims that have to live with the outcome.
