Last Shift (2014) AKA Paymon - The King of Hell (2014) is an American thriller horror movie with a supernatural twist. Director and co-writer Anthony DiBlasi (Dread (2009), Cassadaga (2011), The Profane Exhibit (2013)) did a phenomenal job creating this three-dimensional well-paced movie. Last Shift is a new horror movie that revolves around transition and how it can be scary for some people. The film contains thrilling suspense, a lot of sitting on the edge of your seat moments, goriness, graphic images of bloody body parts popping out from the body.
Jessica Loren (Juliana Harkavy - Dolphin Tale (2011), To Write Love on Her Arms (2012), If You Only Knew (2011)) is a rookie officer that has an adventurous first night at her new job. The movie revolves around Jessica working her last night at a police station that is transitioning. Jessica is the only one in the station, and everything is already packed and gone from the police station except bio-hazard waste from the armory that is being picked up by a Hazmat crew. Jessica’s father was a police officer that died directly a year ago in the line of duty. John Michael Paymon (Joshua Mikel - We’re the Millers (2013), Terminator Genisys (2015), Kirksdale (2007), Million Dollar Arm (2014)) is a cult leader that is no longer alive. John and two of his followers have committed suicide in the prison directly a year ago and has been haunting the prison ever since. Jessica only knew about her father dy**g a year ago and did not know about John and his mates death/suicide. She is in for an eventful night as things began to go "bump in the night" and got too dangerous a little too fast. I will not spoil the movie because it is one that has to be seen on the big screen to be enjoyed the most.
Last Shift is a psychological tale of terror that should not be missed by horror fans, and I encourage all diehard horror fans to see this movie at the theaters if you can. The movie screenplay was almost flawless with no plot holes that I can notice/see. The editor did a fantastic job with his editing because it was flawless. The cinematographer, sound department, makeup department and special effects crew did a fantastic job. I found it funny that all horror movies have their lead characters walking around in the dark aimlessly with not much weaponry asking “who is there or what do you want? I encourage everyone to watch Last Shift because it is a pretty good horror movie with scary images and a beautiful storyline. I will see this movie again in theaters on October 6, 2015.
