Exploring Mr. Jingles (2006) through our review, we cover its story, scares, and how it fits into the broader horror genre landscape.
Mr. Jingles (2006) is an American comedy horror movie that had a reboot in 2009 titled, Jingles the Clown (2009). Director Tommy Brunswick (They Must Eat (2006), The Remake (2006), Little Red Devil (2008)) failed miserably at executing what I thought was going to be an enjoyable watch. There is not much to say about this movie except that it is terrible in every possible way, and I cannot think of one good thing to say about it. Well maybe I can, the cover image made me believe that the movie was going to be a scary, frightening treat, but I was so wrong.
Mr. Jingles (Rudy Hatfield - They Must Eat (2006), Evil Offspring (2009), Biker Zombies from Detroit (2001)) murdered her parents as she witnessed it. Jingles told Angie that he will be back for her after Officers Baines and Guinness shot him. Angie (Kelli Jensen) became institutionalized because of how traumatized she was. She was released from the institution when she became a teenager and her aunt Helen Jameson and cousins were in charge of her. After a lot of events, Baines is the Mayor, and a few individuals believed that Mr.Jingles had returned from the dead to seek revenge for his wrongful death. It is revealed that Mr. Jingles knows spiritual chants and starts his killing spree and wounds Guinness before killing someone else. Guinness’ daughter Melanie dresses up as Mr. Jingles and crashes the party at the Jameson house where Angie is partying. The real Mr. Jingles made his grand surprise appearance at the party; I do not need to tell you what happens next.
I would give this movie a zero and warn all fans from all genre’s to stay away from this film. I cannot give it a zero so do yourselves a favor and stay away from the movie. The actors all did an incredibly bad job with their not convincing performances. The sound effects were all over the place and did not flow well with the movie. The scares and jump scares were nonexistence because I was not afraid at all, not even for a second. I was however scared for myself because it was a total waste of my time, and I was scared that I made the wrong decision to watch this dreadful movie. Everything reeks about this film and a reboot should not have been made because the reboot is not worthy of anyone wasting their time to watch either.
