Raiders of the Lost Shark (2014) is an American sci-fi action horror movie that was a disaster and had nothing to do with its cover image. The cover image made me think that I was going to watch an average cheesy movie that will entertain me somewhat, but I was totally wrong. Director Scott Patrick (Rise of the Black Bat (2012), Blood Red Moon (Video, 2010), Planet Blood ( 2001)) failed in every possible way at executing a watchable movie. The movie contains blood, shark, shark flying, no suspense, no thrills, no horror, and total boredom.
Two officers are seen playing hooky from their job with two young women at a lake. It only took about 7-8 minutes in the movie to see one of the couples being pulled underwater by an underwater creature. The only thing I can see is a small part of the creature’s jaw with a few teeth. All we can see are a few teeth, but I knew it was a shark because of the cover image. It did not take long for the other couple to meet the same faith as the previous couple. We soon see that the shark can fly after another couple is killed. Three college students decide to charter a boat to begin investigating a story about experiments and deaths that occurred on the island years ago. Captain Stuben (Scott McClelland - Wolf Girl (2001), The Ugly File (2009), Horror Fan (2014)) boat looks like it is a caricature. The shark started to attack the boat from the bottom, so Stuben decided to bend over to take a look and returns without his head. What else happens, watch the movie if you dare to encounter a dreadful, boring experience.
The special effects are nothing to talk about because they appear cartoonish as though someone is moving a paper or cut-out doll of a shark. There was no real dialogue because it seems as though the actors made up their lines as the movie progresses. There was one humorous moment where I found myself chuckling and that was because I was thinking, how can a shark roar and fly without wings, amused. The plus side of this film is that you will only waste 71 minutes of your time if you decide to watch this film to see how horrible it is. Everything else reeks disaster and stay clear. Raiders of the Lost Shark was bad, terrible, and appeared as though there was no script. The movie’s title had nothing to do with this awful movie that was a ripoff/cliche. The poster image is catchy and will make people think that they are about to watch a fantastic movie, but they will receive the opposite as nothing on the poster happens in the movie.
