Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Review

Synopsis:

Sam Witwicky leaves the Autobots behind for a normal life. But when his mind is filled with cryptic symbols, the Decepticons target him and he is dragged back into the Transformers' war.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) is a 2h 30 min PG-13 American science-fiction action adventure film that the second installment in the Transformers film series and is the sequel to Transformers (2007). The film had an estimated budget of $200 million and grossed over $836 million worldwide. Director Michael Bay (Transformers (2007), Armageddon (1998), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)) did not execute this movie to the standards that most fans expect what it would be. The film fell short in many areas. The movie contains bad language, intense scenes, extreme violence, sexual content with nudity, numerous goofs/mishaps, and a bland storyline.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen revolves around Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf - Transformers (2007), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), Fury (2014)) who is caught in a war. Sam is caught between the war of the Autobots which is led by Optimus Prime and the Decepticons who are led by Megatron. The Fallen is an ancient Decepticon that seeks revenge on Earth by finding a source that will let him destroy the sun and all life on Earth.

I did not care for this Transformer sequel as much because it had a bland story with not so good acting. There was also romantic scenes which were not needed in an action war movie, crude humor, anti-climactic action sequences, and an abrupt ending that I was appalled by since the film was about 2 hours long. I also did not like the fact that Optimus Prime’s character did not have much screen time when compared to the previous film. I do however love the visual effects, music/sound and the voice performances of the bots.

I gave the film a five because many fellow viewers enjoyed this movie for the action scenes and did not care about the storyline. My fellow movie mates love this movie for what it is and Transformer fans who are looking for a good action movie without anything else to offer then this is the movie for you. There was over 80 continuity errors in the film and also factual errors, character mistakes, and major plot holes.

The movie was shot in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA; Petra, Jordan; Salt, Jordan; Wadi Rum, Jordan; Giza, Egypt; Luxor, Egypt; Alamogordo, New Mexico, USA; Chantilly, Virginia, USA; Washington, District of Columbia, USA; Shanghai, China; Tucson, Arizona, USA; Paris, FranceĀ and several locations in California, USA; New York City, New York, USA and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
