The Terminator Info
The Terminator Review
Synopsis:A seemingly indestructible humanoid cyborg is sent from 2029 to 1984 to assassinate a waitress, whose unborn son will lead humanity in a war against the machines, while a soldier from that war is sent to protect her at all costs.
The Terminator (1984) is a 1h 47 min rated R American science fiction action film that was shot in 26 locations in California, USA. The movie had an estimated budget of $6 million and grossed over $78 million at the box office topping the US box office for two weeks. The Terminator (1984) was followed by four sequels Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator Salvation (2009), Terminator Genisys (2015) and a television series. The Terminator comic books, novels, and video games shortly followed. Director and co-writer James Cameron (Aliens (1986), Titanic (1997), Avatar (2009), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)) career skyrocketed after executing this phenomenal movie that paved the way for Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The Terminator is not suitable for the younger audience as it contains sexual content, nudity, extreme graphic violence, profanity, intense frightening scenes, blood, car chase, cyborg, robots, time travel and human versus cyborg. The movie revolves around the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger - Predator (1987), Total Recall (1990), Pumping Iron (1977)) who is a cyborg assassin. The Terminator was sent back from the year 2029 to 1984 to prevent Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton - Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Dante’s Peak (1997), Beauty and the Beast (1987-1989)) from having her son by killing her. Sarah’s future son is seen/predicted to be a savior against machines when he grows up. There is one obstacle in the Terminator’s way, and that is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn - Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989), The Rock (1996)) who is a soldier from the future that was sent back in time to protect Connor.
I remember seeing the TV version of this movie in my preteen days, and I was entertained beyond words. I still enjoy this movie today and all it has to offer. All of the characters gave us exceptional performances with the dark setting and fantastic special effects. My favorite installment in the Terminator franchise is The Terminator (1984) because it was genuine in every possible way and exhilarating. All action fans should see this film at their earliest convenience if they have not already because it is a real treat from the 1980s that no one should miss.
