Tale of a Vampire (1992) is a UK low-budget romance drama horror movie that shot the film with spectacular angles, style, and lighting technique. Director Shimako Sato (K-20: The Fiend with Twenty Faces (2008), Space Battleship Yamato (2010), Resident Evil Code: Veronica X (2000)) could not have done a better job directing this movie as I find it almost flawless. Sato’s directing skills, however, could not help the actors whom performances was not the best and could have been better in so many ways. I was in awe after finishing seeing the movie because there was no suspense, twist, extremely slow, and contained a massive amount of gore - gore was overdone. With all said, it was a fantastic movie to watch and might not be for everyone but will be a movie that I might watch again soon. Vampire movies are overdone, but this film is quite different from the majority of vampire movies so give it a chance and watch it at your earliest convenience. I gave this movie a six because it was a fantastic watch although it has a lot of things against it.
Anne (Suzanna Hamilton - Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984), Out of Africa (1985), Brimstone & Treacle (1982)) is a young woman who is mourning her love that died in an accident. Alex (Julian Sands - Leaving Las Vegas (1995), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), The Killing Fields (1984), A Room with a View (1985)) is a vampire that is not affected by daylight and is mourning his lost love, Virginia. Alex roams the streets and around the library as he is depressed over Virginia. He soon meets Anne, who reminds him of Virginia (Suzanna Hamilton) because how remarkable they resemble each other. Anne receives a mysterious letter offering a job at the library that she accepts. She soon began having deep feelings for Alex, who only dreams of consuming her blood. A strong, physically fit, mysterious stranger is on a mission to find Alex, but intends on using Anne to gain advantage over Alex hoping to destroy Alex. The man, Edgar (Kenneth Cranham - Maleficent (2014), Valkyrie (2008), Layer Cake (2004), Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)) was married to Virginia before Alex was married to her. The movie progresses to being an entertaining watch despite the negatives of the film I mentioned above.
