HellHorror’s review of The City of Lost Children (1995) breaks down the plot, scares, cast performances, and its lasting impact on the horror genre.

Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet co-directed The City of Lost Children (1995) won 2 movie awards and was nominated for 11 more awards. The City of Lost Children had an estimated movie budget of $18 million and grossed $1.5 million at the US box office, not too bad for an International film.

The City of Lost Children is the story of One (Ron Perlman) and a young girl he meets, Meite who helps him try to find Little Brother who was kidnapped by a religious group called The Cyclops who take their own sight to see more… The Cyclops take the children they kidnap and bring them to this weird guy named Krank who tries to steal their dreams, but his evil always corrupts their dreams, and so he doesn’t get what he wants.

The City of Lost Children is so crazy but good. This is a French movie with English subtitles, so you kinda have to do the whole read and watch type of thing, which makes it hard to focus and you can easily get lost. This is one of those movies you have to pay attention to. I tried, and from what I understood it was pretty good. The sets and the camera work was really good; the acting is excellent, I was delighted with this one.
