The Fly Plot Synopsis:
Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum), a brilliant but eccentric scientist attempts to woo investigative journalist Veronica Quaife (Geena Davis) by offering her a scoop on his latest research in the field of matter transportation, which against all the expectations of the scientific establishment have proved successful. Up to a point. Brundle thinks he has ironed out the last problem when he successfully transports a living creature, but when he attempts to teleport himself a fly enters one of the transmission booths, and Brundle finds he is a changed man. This Science-Gone-Mad film is the source of the quotable quote "Be afraid. Be very afraid."
Synopsis / Plot Summary: A brilliant but eccentric scientist begins to transform into a giant man/fly hybrid after one of his experiments goes horribly wrong.
Tagline: Something went wrong in the lab today. Very wrong.
Why Watch The Fly
So, have you ever watched "The Fly"? It's from 1986, and it’s seriously out there. Jeff Goldblum plays this scientist guy, Brundle, who’s messing around with teleportation. Everything goes nuts when he accidentally teleports himself with a fly. Sounds bizarre, right? Well, it gets wilder.
Jeff Goldblum is so good in this. He starts off as this kinda eccentric, cool scientist and then things take a turn for the crazy. The transformation he goes through? It’s both insane and a bit on the gross side.
What I think is super cool about "The Fly" is how it’s not just your usual sci-fi. It’s got all these horror vibes mixed in. You’re watching it and like, “Oh man, what now?” It's kind of gruesome at times, but in a way that’s really gripping.
The special effects are wild, especially for back in the '80s. They went all out with the makeup and stuff. And there's this sort of sad part to it, too, especially with Geena Davis and her thing with Brundle.
If you're into sci-fi and can handle some pretty out-there horror scenes, you should totally check out "The Fly." It’s like part science experiment gone wrong, part horror show. Just a heads up, though – maybe not the best movie for date night!
