Langoliers (1995) is a TV mini-series that totals four hours with commercials included. It is made up of two episodes that are two hours long each and is based on Stephen King‘s novel titled Four Past Midnight. Director Tom Holland (Fright Night (2011), Child’s Play (1988), Fright Night (1985)) did a good job bringing Stephen King’s novel to life. The TV mini-series might be scary for younger viewers, and the language might be a little rough although there are no bad words. It was sad to see why the killer chose to waste 43 million dollars from the company he works for. It was a shame what happened to him and losing that much money for his company did not erase that painful memory from his head.
Dinah Bellman (Kate Maberly - The Secret Garden (1993), Finding Neverland (2004), Friendship’s Field (1995), Mysteries of Egypt (1998)) is a blind girl traveling with her Aunt Vicky from Los Angeles to/for Boston. Dinah tries waking up her Aunt Vicky for water but receives no response. Dinah then calls for help and awakens the other passengers on the plane. Everyone on the plane was shocked that there was only nine of them on the plane, and they do not know where the pilot and other passengers are. The autopilot on the plane is on, and everyone is in fear mode now. The nine passengers introduce themselves to each other but are they really who they say they are?
Brian (David Morse - The Green Mile (1999), Contact (1997), The Hurt Locker (2008), World War Z (2013)) decides to land the plane at a smaller airport in Bangor after he cannot contact anyone on the radio. They notice that the abandoned airport is extremely quiet without any power, matches cannot be lit, and there is no taste to food or beverages. As that was not weird enough, the time appears to speed up as the sun rises and down within hours and repeats itself. The group cannot escape from the airport because the fuel in the airplane will not be of any use since everything else is not. The group was wrong, and there were some murders/killings before they can make their grand escape. Everyone is not who they said they are, and it revealed at the end of the TV horror mini-series. Stephen King made an appearance towards the ending too.
The horror TV mini-series was a good watch when compared to other shows/series. I enjoyed watching it but was happy there was short. The actors were great and did an exceptional job with their roles. I felt several different emotions towards the characters. Each one of the characters had their story, and it was sad. I love that I can connect with the characters in this series. The sets were awesome, and so were The Langoliers.
