Stephen Sommers directed The Mummy (1999) was nominated for an Oscar Award receiving 5 movie awards and 19 other nominations. The Mummy had a substantial estimated $80 million movie budget to gross $155 million at the US box office.

The Mummy stars Brendan Fraser as our protagonist Rick O’Connell who battles the newly risen mummy Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo). Rick, his love interest Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz) and her brother Jonathan Carnahan (John Hannah) have a hard battle ahead of them mixed with the wonderful action, adventure, and fantasy.

The Mummy did an excellent job entertaining the viewer with one great big adventure. The graphics and special effects mostly still hold up even today. The Mummy is a film you can watch once every year and still not get bored of it. Brendan Fraser delivers his usual brand of comedy that works so well in this film. If you have not seen The Mummy, you should and if you have not seen it in a while, time for a rewatch.
