The Pack (2015) is an Australian thriller horror movie that was directed by first-time director Nick Robertson. Nick shows that he has talent with his execution style in this film. I cannot wait to see more movies from this creative, artistic direct. The Pack has a plot that have been seen many times before where a family or several people are trapped in a house/cabin and are being hunted by bloodthirsty maniacs/animals/creatures. This film stands out from the rest of its kind because it is straightforward where you will not find yourself guessing about what will happen but it is still interesting although not suspenseful. The director did a fantastic job building up the tension by starting out slow and then just, boom, unexpected sitting on the edge of your seat moment in your face.
The Pack revolves around a pack of dogs killing almost every living thing including humans. The dogs started by killing (ripping, shredding and tearing the flesh/bones apart) on a secluded Australian farm. Adam (Jack Campbell - All Saints (1998), Gabriel (2007), City Life (1996), The Burnt Cork (2010)) is having a difficult time with finance, and his dead livestock does not make it easier for him. Adam is determined to end the killing of his livestock because he has to provide financially for his family to be fed and live a decent life. His farm is on the verge of foreclosure, so Adam also has to deal with creditors harassing him. He also has a bratty teenager that thinks she will have a better life in the city and wants to move as soon as possible because the internet connection is better there. Adam surely has a lot on his hands, but he was not prepared to fend off creatures to save his family from being mangled and shredded to bits. Will Adam be able to save his family from the big black ferocious dogs?
A few action scenes were pretty bloody, and viewers know to pay attention any time they see the dogs on screen because something wild is about to happen. I was mad a few times, ex: why in the world did they just stand there looking at the officer looking around for the dogs instead of opening their window and scream at the officer to get back in his car, just let the poor officer die. How did the father survive the pack of dogs attacking him in the vehicle, that is impossible, how? There were too many plot holes and goofs in this film where many questions were left unanswered. With all said, I was entertained with the movie because it had an intense flow and the atmosphere was engaging.
