Horror fans searching for a breakdown of Voodoo Moon (2006) will find our review covers the plot, themes, and the shocking ending everyone talks about.
Voodoo Moon (2006) is directed and written by Kevin VanHook (Slayer (2006)) with an estimated $2 million budget. On paper, this film seems to have all that it needs to deliver a good horror movie. Horror icons Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator (1985), The Frighteners (1996), From Beyond (1986)) and Dee Wallace (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Cujo (1983), The Howling (1981), Critters (1986)) make appearances in this film too.
Voodoo Moon tells the tale of brother Cole (Eric Mabius - Ugly Betty (2006-2010), Cruel Intentions (1999), Resident Evil (2002), The Crow: Salvation (2000)) and sister Heather (Charisma Carpenter - Angel (1999-2004), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1996-2002), The Expendables (2010), The Expendables 2 (2012)). When the siblings were younger, their entire hometown was destroyed by a demonic entity. Fast forward in time, and Heather is an artist with psychic powers, while Cole has spent his life trying to make sense of what happened. Cole learned Voodoo hoping to track down the demon responsible for killing everyone he knew.
From the start, you might ask yourself what is Cole’s backstory and how did he master the skills of Voodoo, don’t. That is never addressed in detail, and we are quickly sped up to the battle ahead. Of the many reviewers here at HellHorror.com, I am one of the most forgiving and willing to overlook some things, but this film is terrible. Actors tried their best, and some did not. The graphics were okay sometimes. The story and lack of excitement work against the film. I could not get into it and felt like it was a chore to watch this film. Look past Voodoo Moon, nothing worth watching here.
