Iron Man 3 (2013) Review
Iron Man 3 (2013) is an American science fiction action-adventure superhero film that is the sequel to Iron Man (2008) and Iron Man 2 (2010) and is also the seventh movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The movie had an estimated budget of $200 million and grossed over $1.215 billion at the box offices. It was exciting to see the first “Iron Man” (2008), and I was beyond thrilled to see Robert Downey Jr. play superhero Tony Stark who wears a steel rocket suit, but that origin story can only be seen so many times. Director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)) blew me away with his directorial skills as they were amazing and keep in mind that this is his second movie to direct.
Iron Man 3 revolves around Tony Stark dealing with posttraumatic stress resulting from previous events of The Avengers and also now investigating Mandarin and his terrorist organization. Iron Man 3 was a good watch as it started by showing us Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr. - The Avengers (2012), Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010)) a little unhinged from the previous events involving The Avengers and he is also in good physical shape. To make his life exceptionally good is his domestic partner Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow - Se7en (1995), Iron Man 2 (2010), Iron Man (2008)) who is almost everything he desires. It did not take long for disaster to strike as Trevor Slattery/Mandarin (Ben Kingsley - Schindler’s List (1993), Shutter Island (2010), Hugo (2011), Gandhi (1982)) is amusingly bombing a lot of locations. The attacks are only getting worse as Mandarin promises his major bombing will hit in time for Christmas. One of the bombs caused Tony’s security to be in a coma. Mandarin is a smart guy who jams the television airwaves with his daring anti-American videos. We are soon after introduced to a few more people that play important roles in the movie.
Iron Man 3 was a fantastic watch but is not something that I will watch again, but it is mainly because of my personal preference and also because I am getting tired of Iron Man movies. There is only so much you can do, and that is saving the world in every movie or trying to save the world while getting a bashing. All of the actors gave remarkable performances that were outstanding, believable and I was able to connect with the characters. I enjoyed the special effects, sound, action scenes, sets, and mostly the screenplay. I gave this movie a seven because there were a few flaws, goofs, and a few boring parts. All superhero fans should see this film if you have not already and try to see all of the movies in the franchise.
