Drag Me to Hell Plot Synopsis:

Christine Brown is a loan officer at a bank but is worried about her lot in life. She's in competition with a competent colleague for an assistant manager position and isn't too sure about her status with a boyfriend. Worried that her boss will think less of her if she shows weakness, she refuses a time extension on a loan to an old woman, Mrs. Ganush, who now faces foreclosure and the loss of her house. In retaliation, the old woman place a curse on her which, she subsequently learns, will result in her being taken to hell in a few days time. With the help of a psychic, she tries to rid herself of the demon, but faces several hurdles in the attempt.

Director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy, Evil Dead series) returns to the horror genre with "Drag Me To Hell," an original tale of a young woman"s desperate quest to break an evil curse.

Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.

In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal damnation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse?

Why Watch Drag Me to Hell

Oh, "Drag Me to Hell" from 2009? It's such a wild ride! Directed by Sam Raimi, it's about this bank loan officer, Christine, who refuses a loan extension to this elderly lady. Bad move, because it turns out the lady is into some creepy supernatural stuff and puts a curse on Christine. What follows is just a rollercoaster of freaky, curse-related chaos.

The movie is kind of a horror-comedy mix. Alison Lohman, who plays Christine, really captures that whole ‘normal person thrown into a nightmare’ thing. She’s both really sympathetic and kind of funny at times, which isn’t easy to pull off in a horror movie.

What I think is cool about "Drag Me to Hell" is that it's scary, but it also has a lot of classic Sam Raimi touches – over-the-top moments, a bit of goofiness, and some really wild scenes. It’s not the kind of horror movie that leaves you feeling down; it’s more like a spooky, fun house ride.

The curse stuff in the film? Super creepy. But the way they handle it is almost like you want to cover your eyes, but you also can’t wait to see what happens next.

If you're into horror but like when it's mixed with some humor and crazy scenarios, "Drag Me to Hell" is a great pick. It’s spooky, sure, but in a way, that's also kind of a blast. Just be ready for some seriously weird curse action!
