The Purge: Election Year (2016) Horror Thriller Sci-Fi Action Poster

The Purge: Election Year Plot Synopsis:

It's been two years since Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) stopped himself from a regrettable act of revenge on Purge Night. Now serving as head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), his mission is to protect her in a run for president and survive the annual ritual that targets the poor and innocent. But when a betrayal forces them onto the streets of D.C. on the one night when no help is available, they must stay alive until dawn...or both be sacrificed for their sins against the state.

Update February 11, 2016: Added movie poster and updated title and synopsis.

Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes spent $12 million combined on both Purge films and grossed $200 million so it was a no-brainer that they were moving forward with The Purge 3 (2015). This movie series has become James DeMonaco"s baby as he is creating the script for The Purge 3 and looking to direct again. The Purge 3 release date of July 1, 2016, gives DeMonaco some time to work with to bring many elements together. The Purge: Anarchy (2014) redeemed the series for me and I am looking forward to seeing The Purge 3.

Right now the synopsis of the film is:

Two years after choosing not to kill the man who killed his son, former police sergeant Barnes has become head of security for Senator Charlene Roan, the front runner in the next Presidential election due to her vow to eliminate the Purge.

The Purge 3 will be produced by the original producers who are Sebastian Lemercier, Blumhouse Productions" Jason Blum, and Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
